Former American Football Wide Receiver Jerry Rice is the beacon of inspiration in this week’s Equestrian Inspiration series, this installment titled Equestrian Inspiration: Accomplish. Rice knows a thing or two about putting in the work today to accomplish an end game. Born a Mississippian and the sixth of eight children. Because his family struggled financially, he learned the meaning of hard work from a very young age, picking corn, cotton, and hay to get by. He started playing football his sophomore year of high school and continued on in college. In 1985, after he was drafted into the NFL by 49ers, he had steep competition to stand out as a rookie among elites of the game.

Today he’s a 3x Super Bowl Champion, Super Bowl XXIII MVP, and is in the San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame. It took him years to accomplish success. None of which would have been possible without his strong work ethic and discipline.

Oftentimes, stories of success are made to sound as if years of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears were crammed into one night. But the reality is that success doesn’t happen over night, and I wish the mainstream media and people in general would stop glamorizing success in this fashion. Getting from point A to Z happens over time, sometimes in miniscule increments that to the person on that path feel like an eternity. Overnight success is not real. The only way to accomplish it is by showing up day in and day out and doing the work.

Never let anyone talk you out of pursuing your dreams. But, most importantly, never let your mind trick you into believing success comes easy.
