Wildcat Red made his debut as a 2-year-old in September of 2013 at Gulfstream Park, winning his first two starts and placing 2nd in his third and final race of 2013. With two graded stakes wins in early 2014, the colt took a shot at the 140th Kentucky Derby, but experienced some trouble in the heavy derby traffic and finished 29½ lengths behind the leader, California Chrome. Bred in Florida by Moreau Bloodstock International Inc. and Winter Racing Enterprise Inc., and owned by Honors Stable Corp., Wildcat Red’s past performances suggest that in order for the colt to take the lead in the stretch he should be positioned directly behind the leader by the 1/2 call and should avoid rushing the pace prior to then.
