The son of Tapit created quite the buzz after his impressive 4-length win on an extremely sloppy track in the Peter Pan Stakes (G1), May 10th, 2014, at Belmont Park. The big bay colt with a very large stride ran just one race as a 2-year-old and has shown much consistency as a 3-year-old, most notably winning the 2014 Belmont Stakes and denying California Chrome of a Triple Crown. Bred by Woodslane Farm and owned by Robert S. Evans, Tonalist can pick up the pace and take over the lead at the drop of a dime. During a race you can find the colt one or two positions behind the pace maker before taking off on the stretch.
