Bred by Greenwood Lodge Farm in Kentucky, the son of Exchange Rate and Mystic Soul was auctioned at Keeneland in 2012 and sold to Stoneway Farm for a price of $140,000. After debuting at Monmouth Park as a 2-year-old, the bay colt spent eight months away from racing and returned in May of 2014 to win his first race on a dirt track. Encryption’s win in May came under the guidance of Angel Serpa when he broke from post #2 and sent the colt to the lead, setting the pace from wire to wire. Though, still, rather untested, the colt’s track record indicates he can handle distances up to 1-mile and 70-yards , but shows signs of fatigue in the stretch when going 1-1/16 mile.
